During a Cranial Osteopathy session, I use a very light, sensitive touch to assess subtle movements and rhythms. My trained hands can detect areas of restriction, tension, or imbalance within the cranial and spinal system. The treatment itself involves applying incredibly gentle pressure, often just a few grams, to encourage your body to release these tensions and restore its natural, healthy rhythms. It's a bit like tuning a fine instrument - guiding your body back to its optimal balance and self healing capacity. Many patients describe the experience as deeply relaxing, feeling a sense of unwinding, melting, or a profound calm washing over them. It's based on the understanding that there's a continuous, rhythmic motion of cerebrospinal fluid (the fluid that nourishes and protects your brain and spinal cord) throughout your central nervous system. This creates a subtle "Cranial Rhythmic Impulse" (CRI) that can be felt throughout the entire body. Cranial is frequently recommended by Mid-wives to help treat various Mother and Baby issues pre-post pregnancy.
